EDC: Kinetic Gaia, Stage Design
Insomniac Events, 2017
As Insomniacs design partner for four consecutive years, Leisure Expert Group designed and produced the mainstage for the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas once again. Every year it is a joy to work with so many creatives from both Insomniac and Leisure Expert Group on the stages, it all comes alive with the amount of passion and love that goes into it. The main stage tells a different story every year which started with Kinetic Cathedral in 2014, the Crystal Village in 2015, the Kinetic Temple in 2016, and this years’ Kinetic Gaia. The backstory of the Kinetic Gaia is a place where people take care of each other and the world. As mother goddess who presided over the earth in Greek mythology, Gaia was the perfect way to visualize this concept in the stage design. Love the world, embrace the headliners and come in peace.

3D Render
It is very interesting to see the stage designs evolve throughout the years. Technology has evolved as well. We can now fully render a stage design in 3D before even a single panel has been produced. When you are working on a stage that is more than 100 meters wide, this new technology helps to understand the sheer size of the stage.
Time code shows
We produced a number of different time code shows in addition to all the video content, including the spectacular opening ceremony, five different intermezzo shows, as well as the final show. These shows were all devised and programmed beforehand, making sure all the different effects, such as light, video content, fire, pyro, water and laser were perfectly timed, literally to the millisecond.
