Haunted house with a great deal of capacity and possibilities

Europa-Park, Haunted House Down 2012

From Germany’s largest amusement park, Europa-Park, Leisure Expert Group received the assignment to design three haunted houses for their Horror Nights. Down is the haunted house that had to be designed and built with a minimum budget in order to absorb the capacity.

MARIJKE FLAPPER

DESIGN EXPERT

“We designed and executed ‘Down’ on the basis of the wish for a third haunted house to absorb the capacity on busy evenings. The aim was to develop an experience with a budget smaller than customary for a normal haunted house. In the concept development, we exploited the primary fears of the visitors.”

PROJECT MANAGER

Down has a simple basic structure as a result of which the theme can be expanded or changed by means of small adjustments.

THE FINAL RESULT

The visitors walk through dark corridors whereby their primary fears are exploited – fear of the dark, being alone, emptiness, being followed, an attack and other possible dangerous situations. An efficient haunted house with a high scare level, so that this house was judged as the 3rd best haunted house in the world by the LA Times.
