Since 2014, we’ve been teaming up with Insomniac to craft some of the most imaginative festival experiences out there. Our work goes far beyond the annual design of the main stage — we’re also responsible for the overall master planning and art direction across the entire festival grounds. The crossover between festival master planning and theme park design allows us to constantly learn and innovate across both worlds, each discipline enriching the other.
Experience Design and Master Planning
Leisure Expert Group is an experience design company rooted in theme park design, master planning, and the creation of immersive worlds. From our studio in the Netherlands, we work with leading operators and brands across Europe, the Americas and Asia, to design attractions, themed areas, and visitor experiences that connect with people on an emotional level.
What sets us apart is our cross-disciplinary approach. We bring the energy and creativity of festival design into the world of theme parks — and vice versa. This unique blend of disciplines allows us to think differently about guest flow, storytelling, and spatial design.
Our services span the full design process: from early concept creation and master planning through schematic design and design development, all the way to art direction and production guidance. Whether it’s a new themed area for a family park, a flagship festival stage, or a flying theatre experience, we approach every project with the same creative ambition and attention to detail.

Our process
Develop, research, evaluate alternative concepts and arrive at a recommended idea, including, for example, narrative, preliminary element list & program of requirements. Artist impressions visualize the look and feel of the experience.
Define the concept through a finalized master plan, including the layout of buildings and/or rides, with dimensions, black-and-white elevations, ceiling and floor plans, and finalized top views. During this phase, we will define the architectural and show set packages.
Finalize the design development by detailing quantities, locations, positions, and functions. We will add color to the elevations, ceiling, and floor plans, and complete the show set packages with material selections and color codes. This phase may also cover lighting and audio planning, plus a ROM study and bid package to support contract documents.
